Pupils welcome Disability Ministers and Disability-Sports NI representative

Children from St.Joseph's and Newcastle P.S were greatly honoured to meet some very important guests, Ministers for Disability Jonathan Bell/Jennifer McCann and Aubrey from Disability Sports NI.  The children as part of their CRED project are learning about types of disability, the ministers told them about their roles and how they help disabled people.  Aubrey told the children about his disability and how he has adapted to life in a wheelchair.  He showed them them a presentation on ‘disability sports in NI,’ local disabled people who have participated in the Paralympics and the types of sports disabled people can participate in. A question and answer session followed. The children really enjoyed the day and follow up work involved creating posters to promote inclusion of people with disabilities. Thanks to the ministers and Aubrey for taking the time to come and speak to the children.
