Peace Proms 2016

1st Mar 2016

Once again St. Josephs sang at the Peace Proms 2016 on Sunday 28th February.

Our boys and girls were very excited to sing along with over 3000 other children from all over the North of Ireland in this prestigious event.

They sang with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland (CBOI) which was established in 1995 as a peace initiative and is now composed of 120 young people from all over Ireland – North and South.

A new Musical director took to the stage for the first time Greg Beardsell, and he had the children hanging onto his every command, especially as he quickly had them on their feet by the movement of his little finger.

After the rehearsal and lunch, it was lights, camera, action as all the children waited for the show to begin and what an amazing performance.

They sang and danced to Friends medley, Matilda, Pop Medley, Power of the Dream, and Touch the sky.

Some comments from the children

“I liked it when the Star Wars came out” Emmy P4

Caoimhe M, P4 “I loved the Scottish girls dancing”

Tiernan P5 said, “I loved after the break when we had the starter songs and then we started singing.

Ella in P7 said, “I liked the way the new conductor led us in our singing. I really liked the song choices this year, especially ‘You’re The Voice’”.

Katie said “I really liked the Irish Dancing and the Violinist, she was amazing”.

Laura in P6 thought the when the lights went out and everyone held up their phones with the torch on it was a beautiful sight.

We all had a wonderful day.
