A sunny morning with Benny

30th Apr 2026

We were delighted to once again welcome Benny Coulter for another fantastic Gaelic games session with the children. As always, the energy and enthusiasm across the playground was incredible, with everyone eager to get involved and continue developing their skills.

During this week’s session, the focus was on speed, agility, and changing direction, alongside developing key Gaelic football skills such as the hand pass and fist pass, which you can see Benny clearly demonstrating in the video. These are fundamental techniques that help the children improve their control, accuracy, and confidence when handling the ball.

This learning links closely with the Northern Ireland Curriculum for Physical Education, particularly within the Developing Pupils as Individuals strand. The children were given opportunities to enhance their movement skills, coordination, and spatial awareness, while also building teamwork and applying skills in a range of physical activities.

The children were divided into four groups and took part in an exciting activity where cones were spread across the playground. Each group had to run quickly, change direction efficiently, and collect as many cones as possible. This activity not only challenged their speed and agility but also encouraged communication and teamwork. The competitive spirit was fantastic to see, with all children fully engaged and motivated throughout.

To round off the session, the children enjoyed a lively game of football, putting into practice their hand passing, fist passing, and movement skills developed during the lesson. Their progress was clear to see, with great teamwork, determination, and skill on display.

A huge thank you to the amazing Benny for another engaging and inspiring session. It is wonderful to see the children making such great progress in their skills, and most importantly, enjoying being active. We are already looking forward to our next PE session with Benny!
