A special visit from Fireman Kevin!
Firefighter Kevin’s Safety Visit – A Day to Remember!
We were delighted to welcome Kevin, our local firefighter from Downpatrick Station, for a special visit to talk about fire safety and more. His engaging and informative session gave us lots to think about—and plenty of practical tips to help keep ourselves and our families safe.
Kevin explained what to do if a fire breaks out, including:
- Stay calm and follow your escape route
- Keep hallways and exits tidy and clear
- Never jump out of windows—wait for help if you're trapped
- Give your fire alarm a “birthday” to remind you to change the batteries regularly
We also learned about the importance of turning off electrical equipment when not in use and replacing damaged or frayed leads—especially for phones, iPads, and other devices.
Fire Safety Rules
- Test smoke alarms weekly
- Keep escape routes clear
- Never leave cooking unattended

Swimming Safety Rules

Farm Safety Rules

The highlight of the visit was definitely trying on Kevin’s firefighter helmet—everyone had a go and loved it! It was a fun and memorable way to learn about safety, and we’re very grateful to Kevin for taking the time to visit us.
