Sports’ night 2016

The sun was out and the crowd came out too! Rio de Janeiro has nothing on Ballykinlar when it’s sports’ night in Saint Joseph’s. They may have the Olympics but do they have a 25 children relay jumping over road traffic cones. The temperature was rather Rio too, as the red tops would report…”PHEW WHAT A SCORECER”. Yes you know it’s a hot one when Mr Mc Veigh has the shorts on. What a sports’ night! There were some excellent races, who will ever forget the P1/2 obstacle course…it’s not every day that you see world class bench sliding. Even in the baking sun, the egg and spoon was as wonderful as ever and the sack racing was simply first class and will live long in the memory.

This sports’ night had it all and more! The highlight for many of course was the welcome return of Tombola, the joy of finding a number ending in 5 or 0 surely cannot be surpassed. Never has one lost so much money in pursuit of winning some hair conditioner and a 'tin a beans.' What Mr Mc Veigh will do with the hair conditioner is anyone’s guess!

And what about them cold drinks…ice, ice baby. So if you wanted some fine cooked meats, and ice cold beverage and top quality racing you definitely came to the right place. A big thank you for all those who cooked, Carried, ran or simply watched and tombolaed!…you are the games makers! You are what makes Sports’ night great!
