Phonics play

PhonicsPlay is currently letting everyone sign on for free. Username: march20 password: home. Great to learn or revise sounds. 


Twinkl are also offering free access with the code CVDTWINKLHELPS. Twinkl offers resources for all subjects from P1-7.

Khan Academy
Especially good for maths and computing for all ages but other subjects at Secondary level. Note this uses the U.S. grade system but it's mostly common material.

BBC Learning
This site is old and no longer updated and yet there's so much still available, from language learning to BBC Bitesize for revision. No TV licence required except for content on BBC iPlayer.

Free to access 100s of courses, only pay to upgrade if you need a certificate in your name (own account from age 14+ but younger learners can use a parent account).

For those revising at GCSE or A level. Tons of free revision content. Paid access to higher level material.

Welcome to our P4/5 Page,  It’s great to be back in school for a new school year. Here are some of the fun activities we will be taking part in this term.


What are we Learning this half term?


This term in Literacy lessons the pupils will be very busy.

Primary 4 pupils will be looking at life on the farm as we develop our literacy through stories with familiar settings.

The P4 and P5 pupils will be writing short stories with a focus on story introductions, setting the scene and audience. We are using both the app Book Creator and Microsoft word to develop publishing skills.

We will be developing our understanding of verbs and how they change when we look at tenses. Primary four will look at sentences and in particular questions and statements 

In non fiction writing we have been focusing on the different features of a non fiction text.

Class novel for this term is “The Twits”


Pupils will-

Shape and Space

Learn about 2-D shapes and right angles. Kids will be making right angle finders and going on a right angle treasure hunt. P4 will revise pentagons , hexagons and octagons. Primary 5 will identify parallel and perpendicular lines and use this information to describe quadrilaterals. 

Data Handling.

Display and read information from Charts and graphs


Primary 4 pupils will be introduced to telling the time using AM and PM

Primary 5 pupils will be revising telling time to the nearest 5 minutes.


Primary 4 and 5 will be completing a lot of work on place value

pupils should continue to improve mental math skills through apps and web sites such as top marks and “The daily 10”


In Primary 4 and 5 we will be looking at the topic “it’s all about me” this topic will look at the human body, local geography and personal history.


Keeping fit and healthy is so important. This term we will be taking part in GAA coaching on a Wednesday and small sided games on a Friday.
